- grace: you're never too far gone to be redeemed. You may have done things that are so terrible you can never make up for them, but if you sincerely repent and ask for forgiveness, Jesus will take that weight for you.
- the flip side of grace is forgiveness: you should strive to forgive others for their trespasses, recognizing that people are fallible and capable of change.
Historically:
- Monotheism changed the relation between people and the state. If there's an all-powerful God then the emperor is no longer the highest authority.
